Opponents say

The bill has been criticized for failing to protect the due process rights of accused students and giving schools the incentive to expel accused students, even in cases where there is little or no evidence to substantiate the allegation, in order to avoid the risk of being fined.

Proponents say

It will help to reduce the prevalence of sexual assault on campus by increasing transparency and cooperation between schools and local law enforcement.
